Community guidelines
Kamaaina works because both sides of every trade are neighbors. These rules keep it that way.
What can be listed
Things you grew, raised, gathered, or made yourself: fruit and vegetables, eggs, honey, plants and flowers, and homemade food like baked goods, cooked meals, and meal prep.
Not allowed: store-bought goods for resale, alcohol, raw milk, cannabis in any form, meat that was not processed under inspection, and anything that needs a license you do not have. When in doubt, ask us first.
Homemade food and local rules
Many places let home kitchens sell foods directly to neighbors, with conditions on what, where, and how it is labeled. If you sell baked goods, cooked meals, or meal prep, you are the one responsible for meeting any local health requirements for homemade food sales, including permits and labels. Kamaaina is the bulletin board, not the inspector.
Trading well
Post real photos of the real harvest. Mark things sold out when they go. Answer your messages, or unlist. Show up when you said you would, on both sides of the trade.
Your listing shows your town. Pickup details can go in your listing’s pickup notes if your stand has a public spot, or stay in chat if you would rather share them one buyer at a time. Anything in a listing is public, so share only what you want public. Meet where you are comfortable. Cash, barter, or whatever you both agree on. Trades happen directly between you.
When something is off
Every listing has a quiet Report link. Use it for anything that breaks these rules, looks like a scam, or does not belong. We read every report, and listings or accounts that break the rules come down.
